When and how did Jesus become real to you?
Jesus first became real to me when I was in fifth grade, on a school bus. I was attending a Christian school and we were having a Friday morning chapel assembly. After the prayer service the speaker asked if any of us wanted Jesus in our hearts. I was compelled to raise my hand. There were several of us that day and they took us outside of the chapel and onto one of the buses (a little bit scary for a fifth grader). The buses were used every day to transport kids to and from school. So it was on that bus that a bunch of high school kids prayed for me and with me. It was very real.
What do you do at WellSpring?
I am the Children’s Ministry Coordinator for WellSpring’s Wild Kingdom (WWK); nursery through fifth grade. I also coordinate VBS in July and plan family fun activities throughout the year.
What is your most memorable moment at Wellspring?
My most memorable moment at WellSpring was during VBS week 2010. We had done so many fun things like making crafts, playing games, getting wet and watching the science team make Mentos and diet coke rockets! We were sitting by the campfire singing songs, I could hear the campfire crackle and smell the smoke, the campfire leader asked ‘how many of the kids would like to raise their hand to ask Jesus into their lives?’ and I saw so many little hands go up in the air, it was breathtaking!”
What’s the best thing about serving at Wellspring?
The best thing about serving at WellSpring is getting to know people. My service at WellSpring is primarily focused around children’s ministry; the kids are a wonderful blessing! A secondary blessing comes my way from working with the kids and getting to know their parents too. What starts out as a simple trust relationship (the parents trusting me to care for their little ones) over time becomes friendship.
My favorite thing about working with children is looking into their eyes and seeing God.
What do you do to have fun?
What I like to do for fun is go to the beach. I know God lives at the beach so I go to visit Him often.
What do you do in your spare time?
Spare time? After VBS of course! When I have spare time I like to read, spend time with my husband and kids, goof off at the beach (because God is there, right!), read, nap, do anything in the garden. Did I mention go to the beach?
How do you like your coffee?
Coffee – hot or iced, black or with a little sugar, sometimes a soy caramel Frappuccino, no whip makes me very happy.
