Staff & Leadership

Here are a few fun facts to help you get to know the leadership at WellSpring.

  • Scott tuttle

    lead pastor - email

When and how did Jesus become real to you?

I opened my heart to Jesus at a Christian concert in 7th grade.  At the end of the concert they gave an invitation to follow Jesus and even though I grew up in church I knew something was missing in my life.  That night I realized I needed the Lord forgiveness and love personally in my life.

What do you do at Wellspring?

I am the lead pastor.  So I do a number of things, but in truth I have a fantastic team of people that I couldn't do what I do without them.

What is your most memorable moment at Wellspring?

There really are too many to recount.  Beside my family, WellSpring is the biggest part of my life.  So over the past 25 years I have so many unbelievable moments... and some hard ones.  But the Lord has used them all to shape me more into His image.

What’s the best thing about serving at Wellspring?

The best part is serving along those I love and care about.  WellSpring is my family and so to be part of and serve in a place filled with some of my best friends is amazing and an incredible blessing.

Who are the biggest influences in your life?

Many from years ago during my formative years.  But more recently there are a few that stand out... Pastor Russ Davis, Pastor Wayne Cordeiro and a few close friends.

What do you do to have fun?

Hang out with my wife and kids. I enjoy having friends over to the house to enjoy the backyard.  I alway am happy to be at the beach or anywhere by the ocean.  Good food! I love to listen to music preferably live, but that doesn't happen as often as I like. And whenever I get a chance to go on a drive... i'm in a good place.

What do you do in your spare time?

Spare time?  Actually I do the things in the previous question.

    Favorite book, movie or music?

Hind Feet on High Places, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality, Prodigal God, The Leader's Journey and of course the Bible.

    What is your favorite food?

No question sushi and any kind of mexican food.  But a good swordfish or salmon are pretty good too.

How do you like your coffee?

Anyway I can get it.  Truth be known I'm a bit of a coffee snob.  I like a 16 double couple american with non-fat foam and a splash, yes splash of non-fat milk.  Preferably from CoolBeans!

What is your favorite “small indulgence”?

Small, I don't know; but vacations! I'm a big believer in vacations.

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

I can't tell you that, I'm the lead pastor. :)

What is your most favorite day of the week & why?

I have reasons for liking most days, but one in particular is Friday, because it is my sabbath.  I set this day aside for the Lord and enjoying my relationship with Him.

What is your favorite board game?

Don't have one.  I like Texas Hold'em though.

Name 3 Adjectives that best describe you?

Loyal, trustworthy, dependable.  I'm seeing a pattern.

  • Marc Broom

extend ministries & church Council  - EMAIL

When and how did Jesus become real to you?

This will seem backwards, but Jesus became real to me before I was saved, which happened when I was 16. Jesus became real to me watching my grandparents when they would come and live with us for several months. Listening to them sing their Spanish hymns and their unwavering love for God, made me realize how real and personal Jesus wants to be in our lives.

What do you do at Wellspring?

Whatever God wants? I lead outreach ministries, including Community Saturday's where we are involved in serving our community. We also are working on developing a food ministry that is primarily focused on helping the working poor. I do some programming for the office. I teach kids in our children ministries. And I sing loudly and off key from the 3rd row during Sunday worship. Have you ever wondered why no one sits in front of me. You're just lucky I don't sit in the back row, the church would be empty.

What is your most memorable moment at Wellspring?

Dedicating my kids to the Lord and being in the water as my daughter, Emma, was baptized. Pastor Scott asked if I wanted to baptize her, and I said, "Are you kidding me? I am going to be crying enough as it is. There is no way I would be able to speak." We won't even talk about what it will be like when she gets married.

What’s the best thing about serving at Wellspring?

Meeting others and getting to know them. I am an information junkie, so I love to hear stories about people and how they grew up. Hearing about people's lives is the best way I get to see how the Lord moves in others.

What do you do to have fun?

Going to Disneyland, or any vacation, with the family.

What do you do in your spare time?

Woodworking, hiking, and the beach (with the family), Anything to make my kids laugh.

    Favorite book, movie or music?

Book: Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

Movie: Jaws, Shawshank Redemption and Tommy Boy

    What is your favorite food?

BBQ and anything that will make other people cringe

How do you like your coffee?

A half double decaffeinated half-caf, with a twist of lemon. Or, a Coke Zero.

What is your favorite “small indulgence”?

    Small? I don't do small!

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Crazy or stupid? With me they are often the same. The craziest thing I want to do is go diving on the Great Barrier Reef looking for Great White Sharks (I have to wait until the kids are grown up).

What is your most favorite day of the week & why?

Monday, because it is the beginning of the week and there are so many possibilities ahead.

What is your favorite board game?

Monopoly. Crushing all those around me has a certain appeal.

Name 3 Adjectives that best describe you?

Sarcastic, laid back, can I say sarcastic again?

  • Pattie broom

    Children's Ministry coordinator - EMAIL

When and how did Jesus become real to you?

Jesus first became real to me when I was in fifth grade, on a school bus. I was attending a Christian school and we were having a Friday morning chapel assembly. After the prayer service the speaker asked if any of us wanted Jesus in our hearts. I was compelled to raise my hand. There were several of us that day and they took us outside of the chapel and onto one of the buses (a little bit scary for a fifth grader). The buses were used every day to transport kids to and from school. So it was on that bus that a bunch of high school kids prayed for me and with me. It was very real.

What do you do at WellSpring?

I am the Children’s Ministry Coordinator for WellSpring’s Wild Kingdom (WWK); nursery through fifth grade. I also coordinate VBS in July and plan family fun activities throughout the year.

What is your most memorable moment at Wellspring?

My most memorable moment at WellSpring was during VBS week 2010. We had done so many fun things like making crafts, playing games, getting wet and watching the science team make Mentos and diet coke rockets! We were sitting by the campfire singing songs, I could hear the campfire crackle and smell the smoke, the campfire leader asked ‘how many of the kids would like to raise their hand to ask Jesus into their lives?’ and I saw so many little hands go up in the air, it was breathtaking!”

What’s the best thing about serving at Wellspring?

The best thing about serving at WellSpring is getting to know people. My service at WellSpring is primarily focused around children’s ministry; the kids are a wonderful blessing! A secondary blessing comes my way from working with the kids and getting to know their parents too. What starts out as a simple trust relationship (the parents trusting me to care for their little ones) over time becomes friendship.

My favorite thing about working with children is looking into their eyes and seeing God.

What do you do to have fun?

What I like to do for fun is go to the beach. I know God lives at the beach so I go to visit Him often.

What do you do in your spare time?

Spare time? After VBS of course! When I have spare time I like to read, spend time with my husband and kids, goof off at the beach (because God is there, right!), read, nap, do anything in the garden. Did I mention go to the beach?

How do you like your coffee?

Coffee – hot or iced, black or with a little sugar, sometimes a soy caramel Frappuccino, no whip makes me very happy.

  • David stafford

    Worship Coordinator - EMAIL

WellSpring’s worship leader, David Stafford, believes that everything he does is an act of worship to God. One of his life verses is Romans 12:1.

Soon after coming to WellSpring in 2002, David and Orfa were integrated into the worship team, and took over leadership of it in 2005. Several of the songs David has written are a regular part of WellSpring’s worship: “I Will Lift Up My Voice,” “Jesus Be Praised,” and “Fresh Surrender”.

Psalm 34:1 says, I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak His praises.

In this verse, David finds the heart of worship, which is keeping his eyes on the Lord. As he does, he regains the perspective that God is a good God, and it’s a blessing to give Him back praise. His heart towards worship comes through as he leads, and WellSpring is blessed to have David at the helm of our worship team.

    Some other interesting things...

When and how did Jesus become real to you?

The spring of 1979 was the time in my life when Jesus became real to me. In December of 1978, a co-worker shared with me about his faith in Christ, and at that time I began to ask God for his help in my life. In the spring of 1979, after Studying the Bible, praying and watching Christian TV, I asked Jesus into my heart. On Memorial day of that year, I meet my wife, and started attending church with her. The Lord showed me a year later, I was called to worship ministry, and the Lord brought us together to serve Him together.

What do you do at Wellspring?

My main leadership role at Wellspring is overseeing the worship ministry.

What is your most memorable moment at Wellspring?

One memorable time at Wellspring was the spring of 2004. I was praying, God, however you want to use me, show me. At that time Pastor Scott asked me to Pastor the youth. I care about youth, and our kids were in youth at that time, so I became youth Pastor between 2004 and 2005. One of the things I would do is lead worship during our meetings. after I went on to oversee worship, one of the youth told me in a note how I had touched her life through worship.I'm blessed to know I had an impact on her life.

What’s the best thing about serving at Wellspring?

M - When I prayed at school in the 2nd grade and said "I love you Jesus" and all the kids laughed at me and yelled "Michele and Jesus sittin in a tree.." (ohhh kids...) and I burst into tears. I realized that I wouldn't cry if he wasn't real and that Jesus mattered to me. And don't worry...Jesus healed that scar and I still pray in public. HA.

R - One of the most memorable moments was when I was leading worship on a Sunday morning. I told the congregation to sing loud with me. Over everyone else I heard a young boy singing at the top of his lungs. I was so touched by that moment because he was truly singing his heart out to God!
